Vinaka {Thank you}

We are traveling back home today. First on a ferry back to the main Island, a bus to the airport, a plane back to Sydney and a mini bus to our door. We are set for a long day but I think we're all ready to go home. Vinaka Fiji.

R&R

Another kid free morning and massages booked for Darren and I.

I was looking so relaxed afterwards that I was stopped and asked "You've just had a massage, haven't you? Could you please tell me where the spa is?"

Open water

Darren and Isaac took their first dip in the ocean today. With Isaac's recent fear of deep water I thought he might find the ocean a bit scary but he loves it.

Island time

Today Isaac decided he was well enough to try kids club and we also arranged for Noah to go into the creche for a few hours. Darren wanted to go for a walk around the island so I am sitting here with a drink listening to the waves crash. Ahhhhh!

Unwell

Isaac has been very sick today and hasn't wanted to do anything other than stay in bed - which is very unlike him. Hopefully the rest is doing him good though and he can get out and have some fun tomorrow.

Ocean view room

Today we left the main island for our stay on the smaller Mana Island. The last time we came to Fiji we spent our whole trip on Castaway Island and although we loved it, we decided to try a different place this time around.

First impressions aren't as nice as Castaway but we'll see how things go over the next few days. We were upgraded to a beach view room however so the view is lovely.

Fatherly fun in Fiji

I love seeing kids play with their dad and I've especially enjoyed watching Darren and Isaac having fun together on this trip.

Date night abroad

My family kindly offered to take care of the boys this afternoon and tonight while Darren and I spent some time together. At first, we had no idea what to do with our spare time. Do we be adventurous and take on a water sport, do we completely relax with massages or do we laze by the pool soaking up the sun?

Our first thought was that if we stayed by the resort pool Isaac would eventually find us and our kid free afternoon would be over. So we started off on a walk through some of the other resorts. About half way along, the sun was getting quite strong so we decided to take a dip in the Sheraton apartments pool. We were doing well at keeping a low profile until we decided to have a cocktail and was asked our room number. "We are cashless at the pool sir." Oh dear! With a bit of improvisation we managed to pay cash for the drinks and were even given some complimentary beach towels.

We started making our way back to another resort, where there were two for one cocktails. After a swim in their adult pool and a few too many drinks, we took a taxi to the port for some very yummy Indian food. The night ended with a very interesting taxi ride back to our own resort. It seemed to be a disco van and the driver was playing Kenny Rogers at full volume. Darren and I joined along with the singing much to the drivers amusement.

For a couple with no plans, we ended up having such a fun and memorable date night in Fiji.

Coral coast

Today we hired a car and went for a drive through some of the Fijian villages. We stopped by a beach on the way home and while the water was a lot clearer than where we are staying at the port, you can tell why it's called the coral coast. The sand isn't the fine grains we're used to, instead it's crushed coral and not as comfortable under foot. Still an idyllic setting though.

Fijian wanderers

We all took a stroll along the Denarau foreshore tonight. There's a path then runs along the back of the various resorts all the way down to the port. Tonight we went as far as the Sheraton and then across to the golf club for some yummy pizza.

On the way back one of the other resorts was putting on a fire show so we stopped to watch for a while before heading back to our own hotel.

Golf anyone?

Isaac and I spent the morning together playing mini golf at the Denarau golf club.

We'd driven past it a few times in the last few days and each time Isaac asked if we could stop. I suspected it was more to do with the kids ride-on cars and golf buggies they had than his desire to actually play mini golf. My suspicions were confirmed when we got there and he headed straight for the cars.

Understandably, they were only for use by people paying for services at the golf club so I finally convinced Isaac to pick up a golf club and have a hit. He really enjoyed it in the end and was rewarded with a snow cone at the 19th hole. The snow cone was also a great way to cool down while we waited for the Bula bus to take us back to our resort.

Sunsets

The photos just don't do justice to how beautiful these sunsets are.

Leaving on a jet plane

We are off on our long anticipated family holiday to Fiji. Boy do we need some sunshine and relaxation!

Inside {photoadayaug}

My sister and I went to visit dad today before our two week trip to Fiji. We usually take him out onto the lawn for some sun and more than a few cigarettes but it was so cold today that we spent the visit inside.

Food {photoadayaug}

The new veggie patches in our garden are doing very well. We're already enjoying picking lettuce leaves as needed and we had some fresh broccoli for dinner last week. What I'm enjoying most is that Isaac is getting an idea of where his food comes from.

Arrow {photoadayaug}

Isaac and I have been building a bit of Lego together this week. He still amazes me with how well he can follow all the instructions

Simple {photoadayaug}

It was such a lovely day that we took our lunch out into the backyard.

Simple things keep the boys occupied and happy. It was also simple for me to shake all the crumbs off the blanket rather than cleaning the high chair and floor inside.

Purple is my favourite colour so there was no shortage of inspiration today.

We had such a warm, sunny winter's day in Sydney today. Perfect sunglasses weather.

8 o'clock {photoadayaug}

I'm not really an 'up and at em' kind of person in the mornings. I like to wake up slowly in bed which usually means one of the boys is in bed with me for a little bit. This morning Noah and I played while Isaac watched some morning tv.

Somewhere I sat {photoadayaug}

It was date night tonight and after dinner we took a drive to The Domain to admire the harbour. The views of the opera house and bridge were spectacular and we also took a seat on the well known Mrs Macquarie's chair and watched the night lights reflecting on the water.

Coin {photoadayaug}

One of the first sounds I often hear in the morning is Darren rustling through his collection of coins before he heads out the door.
